Favorite sports memory?

When I was 20-years-old I traveled to New York City for the first time. I attended the US Open on my own and got to see Serena Williams play a night match on Arthur Ashe Stadium. It was only a second round match, but seeing her win on that court while in the nosebleed seats felt so magical. When I sat at home and watched her retire from the sport on that same court only a few years later it made my experience so much more transcendent.

Your global sports Mount Rushmore?

Serena Williams. Venus Williams. Abby Wambach. Lewis Hamilton.

Which world leader would you put in goal?

I think what Zelensky is missing in height he would make up with on athleticism.

Which athlete would you want to be world leader?

Coco Gauff.

Best rivalry?

The big 3. Djokovic, Federer and Nadal.

A sign that the world of sport is shrinking?

All the cross team investments. Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton is an investor in the Denver Broncos football team. Meanwhile, football stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are investors in the Formula 1 team Alpine. Tennis star Coco Gauff was an investor in the inaugural women’s basketball Unrivaled league. Serena Williams is a co-owner of the LA women’s soccer team Angel City FC.

Where would the Great Game Lab find the quintessence of global sport?

An Irish pub owned by a Swedish couple and staffed by Americans located in Karlsruhe, Germany during the 2024 Champions league final between Dortmund and Real Madrid.

Question you'd most want to ask other fellows?

We see the global investments and high ownership price tags as an exciting opportunity for global sports, but is enough being done to keep game tickets and fan experiences affordable?
